In this video, I take an in-depth look at the StationPC PocketCloud from a homelabber and self-hosting perspective. What started as a portable storage solution for travelling has turned out to be a surprisingly capable little server. I start by taking a look at the ports and hardware on the PocketCloud before logging into the web dashboard and exploring StationOS. Then things get interesting. I discovered that the PocketCloud's USB-A 3.0 port supports a standard USB Ethernet adapter, giving the PocketCloud wired networking without the official dock. I take that experiment even further by connecting a USB 3.0 hub and running the Ethernet adapter alongside a 1TB external NVMe SSD at the same time. From there, we'll take a look at the features built into the PocketCloud, including: -Photo management and browsing -File Explorer -Automatic SD card backups -Built-in media libraries and streaming -SMB/network storage -External USB storage -Docker support Docker is where the PocketCloud becomes especially interesting for homelab users. I go through the available containers that can be deployed directly on the device and show just how much functionality can be added to this tiny portable NAS. I'll also show you how I'm actually using mine. I have Syncthing running directly on the PocketCloud, automatically backing up files to my Unraid server, DeathStar, at home. I also demonstrate how I've mounted remote SMB shares from DeathStar directly onto the PocketCloud, allowing me to access storage on my home server from the PocketCloud itself. Combined with remote networking, Docker and its built-in battery, this little NAS has essentially become part of my portable homelab and has completely changed how I plan to handle storage and backups while travelling. And because I apparently like doing things backwards, I finish the video with the unboxing.
